IN MY HOUSE 9

The final instalment of In My House displays the work of four artists; Melissa Smith, Elizabeth Withstandley, Smriti Mehra and Terry Silvester. Each artist explores notions of nostalgia, memory, archives and places. Melissa uses photography and image manipulation to capture various locations and express the interplay between perception of spaces vs reality. Elizabeth collects found footage and uses multichannel installation to display a number of amateur performers covering a song called 'Happiness', exploring virtual space as a platform to share and walk the line between amateur and professional. Smriti uses video to document the sentimental process of sorting through items belonging to passed family members, invoking themes of nostalgia, grief and the value we place on objects belonging to loved ones. Terry uses film to explore our relationship to nature from the perspectives of a 30 year old man and a young child.
